TRIBUTE TO JOHN DONNAN

John Donnan Unfortunately this year the world of motorcycle racing lost another one of its good guys. John Donnan was tragically killed at Tandragee. John and Maxton had a long and successful partnership that spanned more than a decade. John was in his own right a very successful engine tuner and racer, winning numerous road races, very often beating the best in the business. John DonnanThe pinnacle of his racing career was beating the legendary Joey Dunlop at the Monaghan Road Races to seal the 1999 Irish Superbike Championship.

Our partnership was not just confined to business. When Richard attended any of the Irish Road Race meetings John and Amelia always looked after Richard, very often putting him up for a night or two and taxiing him around. John Donnan was a true gentleman, he would always help anybody at the meetings, whether it be advice or parts needed you could always rely on John.

The sight of John’s Black and Luminous Yellow bikes will still be seen at the meetings as riders Shane Conner and Wayne Kirwan carry on in his colours. His fiancĂ© Amelia is carrying on J.D Motorcycles name with the parts side of the business.
